Keyano College wished to expand the institution’s visual and performing arts program as well as promote community cultural events. We determined the music, drama, dance and visual arts facilities that could be provided within the budget available and assessed the most appropriate development strategy for the new facilities, with particular reference to the existing 575-seat Keyano Theatre. During the project, we studied analogous facilities, tested the feasibility of alternative designs, and determined the facilities to be provided using a computer-aided costing model. The $5 million budget was allocated for renovations to the existing theatre, plus the construction of approximately 3100 square metres as additions. Completed in 1984.
