Alberta Hospital, Heritage Building, Ponoka, Alberta - 1982
Client: Alberta Hospital Ponoka
Building type: Health, Heritage, Offices
Constructed in 1911, the Heritage Building is the original structure on the campus of a major regional psychiatric hospital. The concept was to renovate this historic building to provide centralized patient, staff, and support services. Initially, our work focused on uses for the main and basement levels. A later study addressed the building as a whole. We established priorities on functions to be located within the building; determined facility requirements for all appropriate patient, staff, and support services; and generated a development plan, which would outline a general strategy for fitting the functions into the space available. An estimated $5 million was required for renovations to the 4000 square metres facility. Completed in 1982.
