BC Institute of Technology, Burnaby, BC - 1989
Client: BC Institute of Technology
Building type: Industry/Research, Post-Secondary Education
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, we prepared a masterplan for the BCIT campus. We examined current and future educational and operational directions for the college. Enrolment growth was considered from the current level of 8,000 students to an ultimate capacity of 12,000 students. Facility requirements were estimated to address current shortfall and to accommodate planned expansion. We also assessed existing conditions of the campus and its inventory of buildings. The plan proposed an overall structure for a series of projects proposed to establish order in campus circulation, construction of new facilities, upgrading of current structures, and the reinforcement of campus character areas. Implementation considerations included possible phasing and capital cost estimates. Completed in 1989.
