Gallatin County Detention Facilities, Bozeman, Montana - 2000
Client: Gallatin County
Building type: Corrections
We conducted a needs assessment for a new detention centre in Bozeman, Montana. Components included both adult and juvenile detention bed for Gallatin County, a proposed regional juvenile facility, and the provision of adult detention beds for selected nearby counties. We developed estimates of the future bed demand through a review of historical caseloads, state and County population projections, and an assessment of the impacts of recent trends and anticipated changes in the criminal justice system. We consulted with members of the County judiciary, police and planning departments, as well as with those responsible for adult and juvenile correctional services. We also interviewed representatives of area police jurisdictions and regional juvenile justice service providers. Later, we reviewed the results with a new justice committee. Completed in 2000.
