Northeast Edmonton Provincial Building, Alberta - 1981

Client:
Building type:

A decision was made to construct a general-purpose government office building in northeast Edmonton, with the principal occupant being the Alberta Social Services District Office for that area. For this project, we updated personnel estimates; studied the operations; determined space requirements within the appropriate standards; developed design guidelines; specified building amenities; outlined expansion allowances; and estimated parking needs. Our Facilities Program estimated the total area at 4500 square metres. Completed in 1981.

Legislature Annex, Edmonton, Alberta - 1981

Client:
Building type:

Since the existing Legislature Building was crowded, the adjacent Agriculture Building was designated as an Annex. Our task was to define the requirements of the functions selected to be relocated and to fit these requirements within the space available. The components examined were: Members of the Legislative Assembly, Members’ Secretarial Support, Members’ Research Support, General Administration, Hansard, Legislature Library, Protocol Office, and Executive Council Office. Personnel projections and spatial requirements were based on interviews with representatives of each group. We projected a requirement for approximately 4800 square metres. Completed in 1981.
