Student Housing, Red Deer College, Alberta - 1981
Client: Red Deer College
Building type: Housing, Post-Secondary Education
The introduction of apprenticeship programs, combined with general enrolment increases, lead to the decision to expand the capacity of student housing at Red Deer College. We analyzed future needs and specified the facilities required. We projected future student enrolments as well as determined the amount and type of student housing required for the short, immediate and long-term futures. The result was a plan for 250–beds provided as bachelor suites, two–bedroom apartments, four–bedroom suites, and four-bedroom townhouses. We then analyzed the functional and physical requirements, defined spatial relationships, estimated area requirements, and formulated design guidelines. Completed in 1981.
