Long-Range Facilities Plan, Prince Rupert School District, BC - 2009
Client: School District 52 (Prince Rupert)
Building type: K-12 Education
Our plan focused on the seven elementary and two secondary schools in the City of Prince Rupert as well as the elementary school in nearby Port Edward. The challenges included declining enrolment and deteriorating facilities. We were asked to explore the prospect of moving to a middle school grade configuration, especially if it created a better match of future enrolment with school capacities. The emerging plan involved closing one of the secondary schools and expanding the other. We also established upgrading priorities for the elementary schools. Our comprehensive financial analysis indicated that the net cost to implement the plan would be just over $10 million. Completed in 2009.
