KAON Factory, TRIUMF Research Facility, Vancouver, BC - 1989
Client: TRIUMF Research Facility
Building type: Industry/Research, Offices, Post-Secondary Education
We were a part of a multi-disciplinary team that conducted an engineering and design impact study of adding a KAON Factory to the existing TRIUMF site. Our work focused on the definition of ‘conventional’ facilities: offices, storage, workshops, and support functions. We worked with senior management to forecast personnel increases to approximately 1,100. We prepared an inventory of existing facilities; estimated future facilities requirements; and identified the functions to be located in existing and new buildings. We defined the required spatial organization for the planned new office building, the redeveloped existing Administration Building, conventional facilities in the Booster Complex, and the new stores/receiving building. Completed in 1989.
